Vishal Bhardwaj is an Indian film Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Music Composer and Playback Singer. He made his debut as a music composer with the children’s film Abhay (The Fearless) (1995). Bhardwaj made his directorial debut with the children’s film Makdee (2002). He produces films under his banner VB Pictures. Apart from composing music, Bhardwaj has also lent his voice for various songs for films like Omkara, No Smoking, U Me Aur Hum, Kaminey, Striker, 7 Khoon Maaf, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Haider. 

Some of the popular movies of Vishal Bhardwaj are Omkara (2006), Haider (2014), Maqbool (2003), The Blue Umbrella (2005), Makdee (2002), Kaminey (2009), 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), Matru ki Bijlee ka Mandola (2013), Rangoon (2017), Pataakha (2018).

Vishal Bhardwaj is known for his adaptations of William Shakespeare’s tragedies: Maqbool based on Macbeth, Omkara based on Othello, Haider based on Hamlet.
